Description

I tried to do a photoshoot with Rags today and utterly failed, but I still like these pics so I figured I'd do something I've been meaning to do and write up her backstory. She's been around a while, but she never got a full backstory just the 10 facts about her and I think it explains a few more things about her :)
I don't go much into her childhood because aside from occasionally being bullied not much happened, it was happy ^-^
So enjoy I guess XD

ETA: I totally forgot to mention, I'm getting real sick of referring to her brothers without names, but I can't seem to find any good ones, so if you've got suggestions for either of them I'm listening ^-^

Raghnailt Donnelly

Raghnailt was born at very top of Northern Ireland. Her parents both worked public jobs, they were loving but had very high expectations for the children and could sometimes border on too stick. Raghnailt was never too bothered by them because from the day she was born she had two supporters, guardians, fighters, always on her side, her two older brothers.
The eldest one was a white knight, a natural born leader, the ideal first child. He was extremely protective of his younger siblings, and always wanted to teach and guide them whenever he could. He got fantastic grades in school and was captain of his football (soccer) team always setting an example for the younger two to follow.
The second brother was the family's wild child. Much more of a prankster and a trouble maker than his older brother, he always seemed to be in trouble for something, but he had a heart of pure gold. He never took a joke too far. And god help any bullies that dared to pick on his little sister while he was around. He was also a football star and played on the same team as his brother.
When they were all still small, their favorite game was rescue the princess. The eldest brother was always the knight, the second brother, the dragon, and little Raghnailt was always the princess.
As they got a little older her brothers developed other interests, they both got into sports, and their father would take them hunting. When they got home the boys would try to teach Raghnailt what they had learned but she never had any interest.
She was a little different, while her brothers were both very outgoing, she preferred the company of books. She was smart but never did particularly well in school, often accused of having her head in the clouds. It was not at all unusual on family vacations to see her brothers splashing around in water while Raghnailt sat on the dock book in hand. Still they never forgot to include her, even if it meant pulling her into the water.
Bullying started young for Raghnailt. She was quiet, she kept to herself, and acted differently, it was enough fuel for the other kids to pick on her. Her brothers defended her whenever they could, but as they moved ahead in school they couldn't always be around, and Raghnailt withdrew into herself and her books.
Her parents put pressure on her to speak more and be more outgoing, but her brothers knew she would talk when it suited her and they could wait.
When she was fifteen an older boy took an interest in her. He was charming, handsome, and by everyone's accounts had a fantastic future ahead of him. The equivalent of the high school quarterback from movies, everyone believed he could do no wrong and took his interest in the younger socially withdrawn girl as an act of charity. The real reason was because he could control her, and while Raghnailt was completely unaware of the fact, she was very good looking. Her brothers had mixed feelings about him, the eldest one wanted to give him a chance but was wary of what he wanted from his sister, the second one hated him. Neither liked the way he told her what to wear, or would casually insult her.
Of course it wasn't long before he started pressuring her into sex. Raghnailt didn't feel ready but she also didn't want to loose the boy everyone told her she was so lucky to date, so she gave in.
Two months later she was pregnant.
It took her a while to figure out what was wrong, her reaction was absolute terror. She didn't know who to tell or what to do. She told her boyfriend first. He went crazy. He told her she had to get rid of it. When she wouldn't, he started threatening violence.
Now scared for her safety as well she finally gave in a told her brothers. They promised to protect her, even from their parents' wrath. When she told them, she was shaking from fear, but her brothers held her hands. Her parents were furious, but her brothers wouldn't let them yell at her. Eventually they calmed down and grudgingly accepted it.
Her boyfriend started a campaign against her. He spread rumors through town that she was a slut who had cheated on him, that she was stupid, anything he could do to damage her reputation and because he was the golden boy people listened to him. Through the course of the pregnancy his violence and threats against her continued to escalate. Raghnailt was not allowed to leave the house without one of her brothers for protection.
Finally just after her sixteenth birthday, Raghnailt gave birth to Ophelia. Her parents were in the delivery room while her brothers waited with held breath outside. After wards while Raghnailt rested her parents went home to get supplies and her brothers worked up the nerve to come in. Irrational as it was they were a little mad at the baby for hurting their sister, but the moment they saw her they were in love.
Both boys instantly took to being uncles, just as they had to having a younger sister. There were often fights over who got to hold Ophelia or what job they wanted her to have when she grew up. Life at home was happy.
But there was a new fight brewing. Raghnailt's ex was now fighting for custody. He hadn't wanted her to have the kid, but he was damned if she was going to keep something he saw as his away from him.
Now the rumors around town, said that Raghnailt was a bad mother, a selfish teenager, stories of her abusing the baby spread like wildfire until people swore they had seen her doing it.
Then it happened.
Six months after Ophelia was born, Raghnailt had gone to a government office to pick up forms for the custody fight, leaving the baby in the care of her brothers. As she usually did she took the longer route home, the isolated walk through woods made her happy. It had been a couple weeks since her ex had threatened anything, in fact the last time she had seen him he had made a point of being very civil.
Before she even opened the door she could tell something was wrong. The house was too quiet. As she pushed the door open she felt a wave of panic hit her. Her father was lying in the doorway he had been stabbed in the throat there was blood everywhere. Behind him in the living room her mother was laying face down in a pool of her blood. She ran past them, glancing in each room until she got to the baby's room. She found her second brother slummed down next to the doorway, he was covered in stab wounds. Inside the room her older brother was face down, his back covered in stab wounds. She fell down on her knees, still wrapped up protectively in his arms was Ophelia, she was fine. She scooped up Ophelia and called 911. When they arrived she was sitting on the floor of Ophelia's room, gently rocking the baby and crying, covered in blood.
The police later decided what Raghnailt already knew, that her parents had been taken by surprise after answering the door, and her brothers had died protecting the baby. What she hadn't seen coming was that they would try to pin it on her. They said there was no evidence of intruders, and they had found everyone's blood on Raghnailt's clothes. There was also that unexplained period of time when no one had seen her, as she had walked home through the woods. When they started asking around town it wasn't hard to find people willing to testify what an out of control teenager she was, an abusive mother, and how tolerant her ex had been.
Raghnailt was still in shock. The whole thing felt like one horrible, sickening, ride. She barely remembers her family's funerals and while she screamed when the police took Ophelia away she immediately went back into shock.
The story of the wild teenage girl, who murdered her entire family spread like wildfire through the news. The number of people on Raghnailt's side quickly dropped and she found herself the most hated person in Ireland.
The police couldn't make the murder charges stick, but she had to sell her family home to pay the lawyer, and she lost custody of Ophelia.
She begged the judge not to give her to her ex but he had rights to her. Several times in the first couple months she snuck onto his property to see how he was treating her. After she got caught for the third time he filed a restraining order against her. She never did see how he was treating her.
With her family home sold, she moved out to an old cabin. It had working electricity and water but not much else. It was surrounded by wilderness on all sides and only a long walk would take you to the nearest small town.
And that's where Raghnailt lived, alone, for the next three years.
Eventually the public stopped talking about her. People in the town still hated her, but they left her alone. Raghnailt kept to herself, barely speaking to anyone. She used the skills her brothers taught her to hunt when she needed meat, and grew her own vegetables as much as she could. Any money she had left from her parents' savings went towards her lawyer, he promised to get Ophelia back for her. The one goal that kept her going.
She became more and more isolated and withdrawn.
That was when her lawyer came to her with a deal. He had been dragging his feet for months on making the next move to get Ophelia back, he knew how desperate Raghnailt was and was totally willing to use that to his advantage. He had connections to some big time criminals, men who ran the Virtual Reality prostitution rings. Someone was stealing from them, slowing down their operations, and while the loss of money was annoying, they were more worried about the larger impact. It was how the money was being stolen that a problem. They needed someone to go in, get close to the thieves and figure out how they were doing it. He volunteered Raghnailt with the promise that if she did it, she would get Ophelia back.
So she went to Canada...
